Our vineyards
The name "Lucunda" is derived from a late Latin word meaning happy, delightful, and pleasant, just like the feeling after drinking a nice bottle of wine.
2017 Pinot Noir - Russian River Valley
CA - Sonoma County - Russian River Valley
13.5% Alcohol
The 2017 Lucunda is superb Pinot Noir that unfolds in the glass with complex aromas of raw cocoa, rose petal, orange rind and red berries that's already very nuanced in its young age. On the palate this wine exhibits juicy cherry fruit yet is complex with satiny tannins and acidic lift. Among its peers, the Lucunda Pinot Noir is in different class and has a status as one of a small handful of producers making truly elegant Russian River Pinot Noir.
2018 Pinot Noir - Russian River Valley
CA - Sonoma County - Russian River Valley
13.5% Alcohol
This wine is striking at an early age. Ripe, silky and beautifully perfumed, the 2018 dazzles from start to finish. The purity of the flavors is just remarkable. Red cherry, pomegranate, rhubarb fruit, blood orange, mint and spice give this voluptuous, layered, exotic Pinot so much complexity.
This wine will build volume and texture over the next 6 years then soften and become more complex for 12 years.
2019 Pinot Noir - Russian River Valley
CA - Sonoma County - Russian River Valley
13.5% Alcohol
The 2019 is wild and powerful with depth and texture. Exotic, wild and yet also wonderfully finessed. The 2019 has a lot to offer. Rhubarb, Pomegranate, lead to nuanced flavors of Star anise, vanilla, dried flowers and crushed stone. The long, persistent finish makes it next to impossible to resist a second taste.
2021 Pinot Noir - Russian River Valley
CA - Sonoma County - Russian River Valley
13.6% Alcohol
Aromatics of cherry, roses, pomegranate, and rhubarb on the nose. On the palate has red fruit rights off the bat. Red cherry, strawberry, plum lead to a savory spice note that is framed with fresh thyme and rosemary and hints of vanilla. This wine shows the coastal influenced landscape where it is grown. Great length and persistence on this wine. Telling tale of long aging potential. Make sure you save several bottles to last through the years.
2022 Pinot Noir - Russian River Valley
CA - Sonoma County - Russian River Valley
13.8% Alcohol
A splash of red cherry and wild strawberry pops first, joined by cranberry, pomegranate, and a twist of blood-orange zest. Hints of rose petal, black tea, and a brush of dried thyme drift in, with French-oak spice—cinnamon stick, clove, vanilla, and a whisper of sandalwood—playing rhythm section. The finish is long clean, and echoing—red cherry, tea leaf, and a dusting of cocoa and five-spice that lingers for one more sip.
2019 Chardonnay - Russian River Valley
CA - Sonoma County - Russian River Valley Heintz Vineyard
12.5% Alcohol
Natural richness typical of Heintz Vineyard comes through this wine, yet it is a bit more focused and pointed than typical. Exotic floral notes and hints of tropical fruits play off striking mineral underpinnings. This is such a vivid and captivating young Chardonnay that shows hits of tangerine oil, almond, and dried flowers that will come out with bottle age. The wine is layered, seamless and has terrific brightness, and I have to say, the balance is compelling. This wine drinks incredibly fresh now. It will put on weight and texture over the next 5-7 years then build tertiary flavors of almond, apple pie, and papaya over the next 5 years.
2020 Chardonnay - Russian River Valley
CA - Sonoma County - Russian River Valley Heintz Vineyard
13.5% Alcohol
The 2020 Lucunda Chardonnay is silky with strong mineral finish. Hints on apricot, chamomile, tangerine oil, and mint dance, almost hidden, under classic California Chardonnay composition. The finish has sage and almond with a precise acidic lift. This wine can age for 10 plus years.
2021 Chardonnay - Russian River Valley
CA - Sonoma County - Russian River Valley Heintz Vineyard
12.9% Alcohol
This wine aromatics start with focused Meyer Lemon then show hints of apple with lemon curd. On the palate it has a nervous tension that cuts through your palate. It is light but has weight. The weight builds with time and exposure to air. This is a wine to drink over a couple hours and enjoy the evolution in glass. It is Chardonnay with aging potential. If you prefer a wine with more citrus and acidic perception drink in the next two years. Over the next 8 to 10 years the wine will add richness and develop secondary flavors of pear, ripe apple and hazelnut.
